Wadi Dayqah Main & Saddle Dams

The tallest dam and one of the region’s most important projects implemented by the Sultanate of Oman to ensure sustainability of water resources.

The largest flow into the wadi until the time of tender was recorded in the year 1982, which exceeded 5,000m³/sec. The 75m high Main Dam, a 400m long RCC structure, and the 54m high, 360m long Saddle Dam, built with zoned rockfill and an impervious clay core, manage water storage. The project employed the Loumbardi’s GIN method for extensive drilling and grouting, ensuring robust control of seepage beneath the dams. This cutting-edge technique fortifies the foundation, guaranteeing the integrity and longevity of the water supply infrastructure for Quriyat and Muscat.
