Brought to life by EMAAR Properties, the Dubai Opera is a stunning architectural masterpiece spanning 65,000 m², with a design inspired by the traditional dhow, paying homage to Dubai’s rich maritime heritage. Officially inaugurated on August 31st, 2016 with a performance by legendary tenor Plácido Domingo, the venue has since become a cultural icon in the region.
Design & Flexibility
The grand auditorium, equipped with over 2,000 seats, features a transformative design that allows it to adapt seamlessly to various event formats. Through advanced engineering, movable walls, ceilings, and a height-adjustable floor enable the space to convert from a traditional theatre into a concert hall, banquet venue, or flat-floor event space, offering unmatched versatility.
Engineering & Construction
- Concrete Volume: Over 70,000 m³ of concrete was used to support the structure.
- Steel Framework: The venue incorporates approximately 12,000 tonnes of structural steel, ensuring strength and durability.
- State-of-the-Art Systems: The facility integrates cutting-edge acoustics, lighting, and climate control systems to accommodate a wide range of productions—from operas and ballets to conferences and exhibitions.
