A Cultural Beacon
The Palestinian Museum is dedicated to celebrating the history, culture, and society of modern and contemporary Palestine. Nestled among the rolling hills and terraced landscapes of Birzeit, the museum opened its doors in Fall 2014 as both a physical and virtual space—a platform that connects Palestinians across the globe in a shared exploration of their past, present, and future.
Designed as a world-class research and cultural institution, the museum fosters critical thinking, creativity, and dialogue. It actively engages Palestinians at home and in the diaspora, while also welcoming a global audience of scholars, researchers, and anyone interested in Palestinian heritage.
As the flagship project of the Welfare Association—an independent, non-profit organization that has provided development and humanitarian support to Palestinians since 1983—the museum stands as a symbol of resilience, identity, and innovation. It aims to mobilize communities, inspire local artistic expression, and serve as a catalyst for cultural exchange on the international stage.
It is our hope that the Palestinian Museum will be “a safe place for unsafe ideas.”
