Riyadh Metro

Riyadh "on the Move": Pioneering Modern Transportation

One of the world’s biggest metro projects.

The Riyadh Metro stands as a global benchmark in sustainable urban development — the largest public transit initiative of its kind, featuring six advanced metro lines stretching across 176 kilometers and connecting 85 stations throughout the city.

At the heart of this transformation is the BACS consortium, a powerhouse alliance of Consolidated Contractors Company, Bechtel, Almabani General Contractors, and Siemens, entrusted with the design and construction of Lines 1 and 2 — the iconic Blue and Red lines. Together, these lines span 63 kilometers and serve 40 stations, setting new standards in engineering excellence and operational efficiency.

Fully automated and powered by renewable energy, the Riyadh Metro integrates cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices to enhance the city’s social, economic, and environmental landscape. It’s more than a transit system — it’s a catalyst for change.

A standout architectural marvel within the network is the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Main Station, envisioned by the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects, blending futuristic design with functional elegance.

Serving over 3.6 million passengers daily, the metro seamlessly connects residential, commercial, and cultural districts, dramatically reducing traffic congestion and elevating the quality of urban life.

Economically, the project is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, driving fuel savings, boosting productivity, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Socially, it empowers communities with reliable, eco-friendly mobility, making everyday commutes faster, cleaner, and more comfortable.

Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) has once again demonstrated its unmatched capability in delivering complex infrastructure with precision and innovation. The successful execution of the Riyadh Viaduct Project is a powerful testament to CCC’s meticulous planning, cutting-edge engineering solutions, and seamless team coordination.

Faced with the formidable challenge of installing massive bridge segments within highly constrained urban spaces, CCC orchestrated a flawless integration of site installation, transportation logistics, and precast yard operations. Every segment was expertly aligned and securely lifted into place — a feat made possible by the company’s unwavering commitment to excellence and collaboration.

This achievement not only highlights CCC’s technical prowess but also reinforces its role as a trusted leader in shaping the future of sustainable urban infrastructure.

The project has been awarded the LEED Silver certification.
