One of the largest Ethylene Crackers in the world.

The Linde Engineering and CCC Consortium was awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of this grassroots ethylene cracker project with a 1.5 MTA capacity. The cracker was the first step in the Borouge 2 expansion project which triples the annual production capacity to two million tons of polyolefins.

The major quantities associated with the construction of this project included 27,000 tons of equipment, 10,600 tons of piping, over 10,000 tons of structural steel, 1,000 km of E&I cables and 88,500 m3 of concrete. The installation of the 65 meter 1,100 ton quench tower was an impressive heavy lift operation requiring welding of the two parts in the air.

During construction, over 5,500 people and 800 pieces of construction equipment were mobilized to site.
