Construction and Commissioning of a gas and NGL plants

CCC was awarded the Alba Phase II Expansion contract by Marathon and the project was executed in 2 phases – Phase 2A and 2B. Phase 2A (Early Production Phase) included installation of additional gas and condensate processing, gas compression, condensate storage and condensate offloading facilities to increase the gas and condensate production from 250 MMSCFD and 17,000 BPD to 625 MMSCFD and 65,000 BPD. Phase 2B included the addition of a gas plant, Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) fractionation and NGL storage and offloading facilities.

CCC scope of work included the provision of the onshore mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation construction services for both Phase 2A and 2B.

With a fast track schedule and constant torrential rain during the wet season of May to September, the project was highly challenging. Much of the work was accomplished in proximity to operating units and CCC was responsible for ensuring all construction work involving close proximity or interconnection to existing operating units was conducted with the highest levels of safety.

CCC faced unique challenges in overcoming obstacles to maintain the project’s fast track construction schedule

MORE INFORMATION

The project site has a tropical climate, with heavy and constant rainfall experienced during the months of May and September, the “wet season”. CCC faced unique challenges in overcoming obstacles to maintain the project’s fast track construction schedule. Heavy rainfall made it difficult to perform site grading, drainage and concrete work for many of the facility’s foundations. Much of the structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works was done during the wet season.
