Ras Laffan Port Expansion Project entered the record books as the largest artificial oil and gas export harbor in the world with a total harbor area of 46 square kilometers to establish access to berths and industrial installations for the processing, storage and export of the Liquefied Natural Gas liquid products and containerized cargo;

Thanks to development of the Ras Laffan Port Expansion Project and the strategic location of Qatar, the country stays ahead of competing LNG suppliers around the world. Qatar’s wealth of hydrocarbons resources will continue to be the driving force behind the country’s tremendous economic growth and the crucial long term position in fuelling global energy requirements for the coming 30 years.

The scope of works included:

Berths: 2 berths for liquid product, 2 for containers, 4 for tugs and 3 for small vessels in addition to the navy and coast guard berths.

Construction is in blockwork (11,000 no. – 224,000 m³), coping level +5.5 m with base level reaching -14.5 m.

Infrastructure:  60 km roads including culverts & steel bridges and parking areas; 92 buildings; water supply; sewage and drainage networks; electrical supply (439 km), 170 km telecom cables, distribution and lighting; pipe racks and bridge structures; fuel system; firefighting and detection; telecommunication facilities; and port security system.
